Becoming a member of SATT means joining a powerful network that is shaping the future of food retail and distribution in Trinidad and Tobago. Together, we ensure a secure, efficient, and resilient food system that benefits both businesses and consumers.
Membership Categories
The Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) offers membership categories designed to reflect the diversity of stakeholders within the food retail and distribution industry.
Supermarket Membership is open to owners and authorised representatives of food retail businesses, including supermarkets, mini-marts, grocery stores, hybrid retail outlets, and similar establishments. Regular Members are entitled to full participation in the Association, including voting rights.
This category is further classified into:
- Independent Supermarkets – single-location operators
- Supermarket Chains – supermarkets operating two or more locations.
Associate Membership is open to industry partners who support the food retail sector. This includes manufacturers, distributors and other stakeholders that supply goods and services to food retailers and wish to engage with the local market. Associate Members do not hold voting rights but benefit from networking opportunities, access to industry events, and relevant industry resources.

To represent the supermarket industry with a strong, unified voice, advocating for policies and regulations that support food security, fair trade, consumer protection, and sustainable sector growth.
- Member Value and Industry Support
To deliver meaningful value to members through guidance, capacity-building, shared resources, training, and networking opportunities that enhance operational efficiency, competitiveness, and long-term business success.
- Collaboration with Government and Stakeholders
To work closely with Government Ministries, regulators agencies, and industry partners locally and internationally to support fair pricing, supply chain stability, public health, labour standards, and market access.
- Sector Resilience and Food Security
To promote preparedness, risk management, and supply chain coordination within the industry, strengthening resilience and contributing to national food security and consumer wellbeing.
- Industry Standards and Best Practices
To encourage ethical conduct, professionalism, and best practices across the supermarket sector, building trust with consumers, suppliers, regulators, and the wider public.
- Networking and Industry Engagement
To create platforms for engagement, collaboration, and information-sharing that strengthen relationships within the industry and enhance the collective capacity of the Association.
